We are looking for a Desktop Investigator who is passionate about uncovering the facts, identifying potential fraud, and helping us make fair, informed decisions.
The successful candidate will combine strong investigative thinking with deep insurance knowledge to identify risks and support sound outcomes.
Based on hiring requirements, we are particularly interested in individuals with a strong claims background who have transitioned into investigations, with experience across life and funeral insurance and a solid understanding of insurable interest, with experience across life and funeral insurance, supported by a sound understanding of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), POPIA and complaints forum processes. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to evaluate the materiality of suspected fraud against the applicable policy terms and determine its relevance to the claim outcome.

Our work ranges from investigating suspected fraud and misrepresentation to identifying opportunities to improve controls and reduce future risk. We work on matters that have a direct impact on client outcomes, operational effectiveness and risk management across the insurance value chain.

What you'll do
- Conduct detailed desktop investigations into potentially fraudulent or high-risk insurance claims.
- Gather, analyse and evaluate information to determine the validity of claims and identify potential misrepresentation.
- Build clear, evidence-based findings and recommendations that support fair and consistent decision-making.
- Identify trends, risks and control weaknesses that may expose us to fraud or financial loss.
- Work closely with stakeholders across claims, risk and investigations to resolve complex matters.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending preventative measures and strengthening controls.
What we're looking for
- 3years + Experience in insurance claims, investigations, auditing or fraud-related roles.
- Strong knowledge of life insurance and funeral insurance.
- Good understanding of insurable interest and insurance fraud indicators.
- Experience conducting investigations, analysing evidence and presenting findings.
- Sound knowledge of investigation methodologies and evidence-based decision making.
- Strong analytical, communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and manage sensitive matters professionally.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Forensics or a related field would be advantageous.
- Previous experience within financial services or insurance would be beneficial.
