Purpose Statement
- To lead and manage a team of data professionals in delivering high-quality data solutions that support business decision-making, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
- To ensure the effective execution of data projects, the promotion and execution of data best practices, governance and analytics and collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into actionable data insights within the organisation.
Experience
Min/Ideal:
- 8+ years combined experience in data and analytics roles with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- At least 3-5 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Practical experience in a data role e.g. as a data analyst, data engineer, or data scientist.
- Leading small to medium-sized data projects from planning to delivery.
- Working cross-functionally with business, IT, and analytics teams.
- Practical experience with data tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Cloud platforms)
- Mentoring junior data professionals.
- Contributing to improving data processes or quality.
Qualifications (Minimum)
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics or Business Management
Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)
- Honours Degree in Economics or Business Management
Knowledge
Min/Ideal:
- People management practices and principles
- Understanding the DPLC, how data is collected, stored, processed, and archived.
- Data quality, knowledge of data validation, cleansing, and consistency techniques.
- Descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, regression.
- Familiarity with data tools and platforms e.g. SQL, Power BI, and cloud platforms .
- Understanding of data security; access control, encryption, and compliance standards.
- Business process understanding - how data supports business operations and decision-making.
- Knowledge of how to define and track key performance indicators.
- Understanding of stakeholder needs and regulatory reporting.
