We're hiring a Compliance Officer to support our Business Banking team in Sandton. Business banking is complex, our clients range from single director entities to multi-layered corporate structures, each with their own regulatory requirements and related parties. We need a trusted adviser who can help our teams navigate that complexity confidently: keeping us compliant without slowing us down.​​  

What you'll do

  • Advise our Business Banking teams on compliance matters, from client queries and complaints to new products and strategic initiatives. 

  • Identify and manage compliance risks across the business, whether spotting risks early or working with teams to make sure known risks are properly tracked and resolved. 

  • Produce and deliver accurate, meaningful reports for governance structures and regulators.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and regulators, representing us in regulatory engagements, on industry committees

  • Partner with project teams across the business to make sure compliance is part of the plan from day one, providing relevant advice and delivering on governance requirements as projects move forward.  

What we're looking for

  • At least 3 years' experience in banking/financial services compliance or legal advising. 

  • A relevant qualification in law, a degree is preferred. 

  • Working knowledge of South African financial services legislation, including Financial Intelligence Centre Act, the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, Market conduct Conduct requirements, the National Credit Act, the Protection of Personal Information Act and the Consumer Protection Act

  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership 

  • Strong communication skills, you can translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance 

  • A financial services background is important, as it gives you a solid foundation to work independently from the start.
