Why this role matters
As a Team Leader: Credit Intelligence Analysis, you will lead a team responsible for developing, implementing and optimising credit intelligence strategies across multiple workstreams. You will play a critical role in managing portfolio risk, improving collections performance, and delivering advanced analytical insights that influence credit decision-making at all levels of the business.
This role offers regular exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to partner with stakeholders across Credit Risk, Granting, Provisions, Collections and Recoveries to influence policy, strategy and business outcomes.
What you'll be doing
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Credit Intelligence Analysts.
- Drive the development, implementation and optimisation of collections, recoveries and arrears management strategies.
- Deliver high-quality analytical insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and improve portfolio performance through data-driven interventions.
- Oversee reporting and provide recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence credit policies, frameworks and risk strategies.
- Guide the review and implementation of analytical solutions and automated processes.
- Support the management of Early Arrears and Non-Performing Loan (NPL) portfolios.
- Ensure the quality and effectiveness of policies, processes and controls across multiple workstreams.
What we're looking for
Minimum experience
- 6 to 8 years' experience in retail credit, including:
- Advanced analytics
- Statistical modelling
- Policy and process enhancement
- Alternatively, 5 to 7 years' experience in retail credit analysis with an Honours qualification.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within a relevant credit portfolio environment.
- Experience contributing to credit principles, policies and frameworks.
- Experience leading or managing a team of analysts.
- Experience within Collections, Recoveries, Account Management or Credit Risk environments.
Ideal experience
- Business Banking credit experience.
- Experience managing arrears, collections and recoveries portfolios.
- Exposure to treatment strategy development and portfolio optimisation.
- Experience influencing credit risk policies and strategic initiatives.
- Knowledge of Python and/or other analytical programming languages, with the ability to review and challenge analytical solutions.
- Previous Capitec experience would be advantageous.
Qualifications (Minimum)
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Statistics
Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)
- A relevant post-graduate qualification in Finance or Statistics
