Why this role exists

We are growing our cloud platform and need a skilled Cloud Engineer (Level II) with a strong focus on AWS Networking to design, build and protect the core connectivity layer that underpins our digital services.This role exists to ensure our cloud networking environment is resilient, secure, high-performing and scalable, enabling the business to operate safely across regions and at enterprise scale.

What you’ll do

  • Design, implement and optimise
  • AWS network architectures (VPCs, subnets, routing, connectivity patterns)
  • Build and maintain secure, scalable network connectivity across environments (e.g. PrivateLink, VPN, hybrid connectivity, inter-account networking)
  • Drive improvements in network security, segmentation and traffic control
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and connectivity issues across cloud environments
  • Support platform and product teams with deep technical guidance on cloud networking patterns and best practicesIdentify risks early in network design and implement proactive mitigations
  • Contribute to automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for consistent network provisioning
  • Continuously improve network reliability, performance and observability

The team you’ll be part of

You’ll join our Cloud Core Engineering team, a specialist group of engineers responsible for the foundational cloud infrastructure used across the organisation.We design and manage the core AWS platform and networking layer that enables teams to build and scale safely. Our work underpins mission-critical systems used by millions of clients daily.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience working with AWS cloud networking (non-negotiable) 
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of:
      • VPC design and architecture
      • Routing, NAT, DNS and load balancing (ALB/NLB)
      • Network security (Security Groups, NACLs, segmentation)
      • Hybrid and cross-account connectivity (VPN, PrivateLink, peering, etc.)
  • Experience designing and operating secure, scalable network architectures in AWS
  • Solid troubleshooting skills for networking and connectivity issues
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and automation practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of delivery
  • A curious mindset and passion for continuous learning

Preferred:

  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty (highly advantageous)
  • Other relevant AWS certifications
