Purpose Statement

  • We are looking for a Financial Accountant to provide technical leadership and coordination within a Fixed Assets project, overseeing the accuracy and integrity of asset data, guiding administrators, and ensuring compliant, high‑quality fixed asset accounting and system integrity.

    The purpose of the role includes the following key accountabilities:

    • Ensuring that all financial accounting transactions are effectively and efficiently recorded and accurately reflected in the financial results
    • Reviewing and analysing financial results to ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial records
    • Performing and reviewing Balance Sheet reconciliations to ensure that all Balance Sheet balances are fully, accurately and comprehensively substantiated
    • Providing subject matter expertise, technical know‑how, experience, oversight and guidance to others within a portfolio, function or department, in support of sound financial reporting and control

*This role is based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
*Appointment will be on a fixed-term contract basis for 12 months.

Experience

Minimum:

  • Completed SAICA / SAIPA Articles
  • 0 to 2 years post articles working experience of Financial Accounting
  • This should include the responsibility for executing a wide range of accounting functions
  • Providing financial advisory support to Business

Ideal:

  • SAP system (accounting module/s)
  • Capitec experience

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - Financial Accounting

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • Honours Degree in Accounting - Financial Accounting

Knowledge

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • IFRS
  • GAAP
  • Accounting principles
  • Computerised accounting systems and principles
  • South African Tax and specifically VAT
  • Management of accounts
  • Financial analysis of large volumes of data in an efficient manner and interpretation of results
  • Business communication
  • Microsoft Office Suite of tools
