Purpose Statement

To drive the growth and national scaling of Capitec’s secured home loan product, shaping a competitive, responsible and scalable Home Loans business that delivers growth, trust and value for clients and the organisation within a sound risk and regulatory framework.

Experience

Min/ideal:

•    10+ years’ experience in strategy, corporate development, management consulting, banking or financial services.
•    Including experience in home loans, secured lending or a closely related banking product environment and/or new market evaluation, expansion or growth strategy. 
•    Proven experience defining and executing product or business strategy at divisional or enterprise level, delivering measurable growth, market penetration and profitability.
•    Experience influencing and advising executive and Exco level stakeholders, translating complex market, risk and operational considerations into clear strategic recommendations and decisions.
•    Track record of scaling complex banking products nationally, including building operating models, infrastructure, distribution partnerships and internal capabilities to support growth.
•    Demonstrated experience managing large portfolios, balancing growth, margins, cost efficiency, credit quality and customer outcomes.
•    Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams, including building leadership depth, succession pipelines and strong performance cultures.
•    Experience operating in highly regulated environments, with accountability for compliance, governance, audit outcomes and ethical conduct.
•    Experience partnering with internal and external stakeholders, such as Risk, IT, Legal, Marketing, property ecosystem partners and regulators, to enable seamless product delivery.
•    Experience driving customer journey improvement and digitisation, reducing friction, complaints and turnaround times while strengthening trust and long term client relationships.
•    Exposure to market entry transactions (partnerships, acquisitions, minority investments). 

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or Finance

Knowledge

Min/ideal:
•    Deep understanding of secured home loan products and economics, including pricing, margins, funding considerations, risk-return trade‑offs, and profitability drivers across the home loans value chain.
•    Strong knowledge of the South African home loans market, including property market dynamics, customer segments, competitive positioning, housing affordability trends, and national growth opportunities.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of banking and home loan regulation.
•    Understanding of end‑to‑end home loan operating models. 
•    Knowledge of enterprise risk management principles, including credit risk appetite, portfolio optimisation, early‑warning indicators and the impact of macroeconomic cycles on secured lending.
•    Awareness of digital enablement and automation opportunities within home loan journeys, sufficient to guide transformation, simplification and customer‑experience improvements.
•    Understanding of performance management and governance frameworks, including KPI design, portfolio monitoring, regulatory reporting and executive‑level decision support.
•    Knowledge of organisational design and capability development, particularly in building specialist, high‑performing teams across sales, credit, operations and product domains
