About the role

Engaging with senior stakeholders to implement the data privacy strategic plan and ensure enterprise-wide data privacy implementation is crucial. This role aims to promote data privacy and shape and influence the digital transformation in the organization by providing specialist advice and support to help mitigate privacy risks, enhance client and employee trust, encourage compliance, and ensure the ethical processing of personal information.
 

This role is pivotal in ensuring the organization’s data privacy and governance frameworks are robust, compliant, and effectively integrated into business operations. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, strategic insight, and practical experience to drive the company’s data governance initiatives forward.

Our ideal candidate has

  • A relevant Degree (Information Technology, Information systems, Law or Accounting Management)
  • At least 5 – 7 years’ proven technical experience in one or more of Data Governance portfolios including privacy or data security.
  • Working Knowledge and understanding of the Protection of Personal information Act (POPIA)
  • Developing and maintaining data policies and standards; OR developing and maintaining Data Governance Ownership Frameworks, data privacy or data security frameworks)

Knowledge

  • The data product life cycle
  • Data, information or privacy Governance and Management practices including metadata, data quality, data ownership, data architecture, data modelling, incident management, data loss protection and security, privacy breach management
  • Business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • DAMA-DMBOK principles
  • Understanding of data related legislation in the banking industry:  RDARR, POPI or GDPR, FICA, AML, PCI DSS
  • Experience and efficiency with data governance toolsets and technologies
