Purpose Statement

  • To provide strategic direction to all treasury, international banking and payment related products and systems within the Exchange Control environment.
  • To monitor and assimilate changes in exchange control laws and regulations, assess the impact on Capitec Bank and be accountable for the implementation of the required/necessary amendments as well as ensuring compliance with all exchange control regulations and guidelines issued by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and any other regulatory authority.
  • To influence and contribute towards the development and execution of the Bank's strategic plans, ensuring that exchange control considerations are integrated into overall business strategies.

Experience

 MINIMUM:

  • 10+ years extensive senior level experience in Foreign Exchange, Exchange Control, Nostro Management, Derivatives, ISDA, Payments and SWIFT.

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, driving results and with a track record of strategy and business plan development and successfully managing Exchange Controls operations and teams.

  • In depth knowledge of South African Exchange Control regulations, including the Currency and Exchange Act and related guidelines issued by the SARB.

  • International best practices in Exchange Control and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience in advisory for clients' offshore acquisitions and with Treasury functions and instruments as well as Large Language Models.


IDEAL:

  • Nice to have legal and compliance background.  

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Banking or Economic and Management Sciences

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • Honours Degree in Banking or Economic and Management Sciences

Knowledge

MINIMUM:

  • Familiar with Local / International payment and settlement methodologies and Industry Forums
  • Knowledge of the compliance and regulatory framework within the banking sector (PASA, SARB FICA etc.)
  • Knowledge on Foreign Exchange systems
  • In-depth industry knowledge relating to the Exchange Control landscape.
  • Negotiation techniques on client query resolution
  • Insight on Client Experience 
  • Business case development
  • Commercial business knowledge and acumen
  • Applying innovative and creative concepts into a practical foreign exchange environment.
