About The Role

We’re on the lookout for a Platform Data Engineer who’s passionate about cloud-native development, data engineering, and enabling data-driven solutions in AWS. As part of our Enterprise Data Lake team, you’ll help build and maintain core components of our data platform using Python, SQL, and AWS services. You’ll play a key role in delivering developer-friendly tooling and infrastructure that supports large-scale data ingestion and transformation - especially as we explore real-time streaming with Kafka and generic pull patterns to better serve our internal clients. 

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain data landing solutions in AWS using Python. 
• Build and improve infrastructure that enables efficient ingestion into the Enterprise Data Lake. 
• Work closely with backend developers and cloud DevSecOps engineers to integrate systems and ensure secure, reliable delivery pipelines. 
• Drive initiatives such as: Real-time data streaming using Kafka and, Generic pull patterns to streamline data platform operations 
• Engage in problem-solving and open collaboration across the team. 
• Take ownership of deliverables and help drive initiatives without micro-management. 
• Operate within a Kanban workflow, balancing development and operational needs. 

What We Are Looking

• 2 – 4 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role. 
• Strong experience with Python for data engineering tasks. 
• Solid knowledge of SQL and working with structured data. 
• Proven experience in AWS - including services like EMR, ECS, EC2. 
• Experience working in cloud-native environments and building scalable data pipelines. 
• Experience with Apache Airflow would be beneficial, but it's not a mandatory skill.
• A passion for solving technical problems and working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership in delivering solutions. 

Education (Minimum)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Data Analysis
