About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team in a pivotal role that combines technical expertise with strong business acumen. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in customer onboarding processes and the ability to decompose complex business problems into implementable solutions. A deep understanding of event-driven architectures and domain-driven design is essential, along with the capability to be hands-on with code and lead technical conversations. This role also requires significant leadership skills, as the candidate will be expected to support multiple teams and portfolios, demonstrating versatility and the ability to context switch effectively.

Minimum Key Knowledge

Business-to-Technical Problem Solving

• Strong ability to translate complex business requirements into pragmatic, scalable technical solutions.
• Proven problem-solving mindset across ambiguous, multi-domain environments.

Cloud Architecture (AWS-Biased)

• Deep, hands-on experience designing and operating cloud-native solutions, primarily on AWS.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and cost-efficient design.

Microservices & API Design

• Extensive experience designing microservices-based architectures.
• Strong command of API design and integration, including REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.
• Practical experience with service discovery, API gateways, and inter-service communication patterns.

Event-Driven & Integration Architecture

• Strong experience building event-driven systems using publish-subscribe, event sourcing, and CQRS patterns.
• Hands-on experience with messaging and streaming platforms (e.g. Kafka).

Software Engineering & Delivery

• Strong engineering background with active, hands-on involvement in solution delivery.
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).
• Designs solutions that are buildable, testable, and operable in production.

Security & Compliance

• Working knowledge of security principles and controls
• Ability to embed security and compliance considerations into solution design.

Domain-Driven Design

• Practical application of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to model complex business domains and align solutions with business capabilities.

Our Ideal Candidate

• At least 5 years of experience as a Solutions Architect, preferably within the banking and financial services sector.
• A Matric Certification
