Purpose Statement
- To build value for the product line by solving client and business challenges using data.
- To utilise data and analytical skills and experience to build insights which enable senior decision makers to make better, informed decisions faster.
- Productionise insights to be consumed across team (focus on building reusable data assets).
- To build an understanding of various business domains and relevant products, to address queries and execute analytical tasks.
Education (Minimum)
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Administration or Statistics
- Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
Education (Ideal or Preferred)
- Certification in Business Analysis or Similar
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum Experience:
- At least 5+ years’ experience in a similar Business Intelligence Analyst or equivalent Data role (Data Analyst, etc.); including experience in Data Analytics, BI methods and tools, Data Warehousing, and the Data Product Life Cycle)
- A good understanding of Database Management and Data Mining
- ETL (extraction, transform, load) data flow, and traceability
- Analysing, identifying, quantifying, and subsequently delivering value on how to solve business challenges using complex data sets
- Building Data Visualisations using tools such as Power BI
- Stakeholder engagement (including Senior Management)
- Experience in data quality and incident management
- Quality assuring and oversight of the work of others.
- Advanced SQL skills: Using complex SQL to prepare and analyse data (e.g., indexes, query plans, foreign key constraints, common table expressions, etc.)
- Coding skills and performing code reviews
- Documentation (going to stakeholders and doing documentation - running projects)
- Business requirements / requirements gathering
- Modelling
- Dashboards
Minimum Knowledge:
- Agile project management methodology and experience with tools such as Jira
- Data privacy and security regulations and best practices
- Design thinking
- Dimensional Modelling
- The Data Product Life Cycle (DPLC)
- Data management
Ideal Experience / Knowledge:
- Previous experience working as a Business Intelligence Analyst / Data Analyst / Business Analyst within the Banking / Financial sector
- Strong programming/coding: Ability to use scripting languages such as Python or R for data analysis and manipulation
- Working with data on Cloud platforms (such as AWS or Microsoft Azure)
- Change management principles and practices, and change management methodology (ADKAR)
- Using low/no code AutoML on modelling tools such as Power BI or AWS Sagemaker
- Lifetime value analysis, propensity modelling, journey mapping, and root cause analysis
- User Experience (UX) reviews through customer interactions / product services
- Automation using software robots built on platforms such as UiPath or Alteryx
- Basic knowledge and experience in using Version Control (Git)
- Having relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Data+; Certified Analytics Professional [CAP]; Associate Certified Analytics Professional [aCAP]; Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate; Microsoft Certified; Power BI Data Analyst/Associate; and/or AWS Certified Data Analytics)
