About the role:

As a Software Test Analyst in Capitec’s Group Treasury team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our payments and financial systems. This isn’t just about testing — it’s about ensuring accuracy and reliability in the data and dashboards that Treasury relies on to make critical decisions. 

You’ll work closely with developers, business analysts, and architects in a lean, collaborative team that’s building new systems and processes from the ground up. That means you’ll have the opportunity to influence, innovate, and see your input make a direct impact. 

We’re looking for someone with payments experience, strong SQL and API testing skills, and the adaptability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Automation and cloud knowledge are advantageous, but your curiosity, logical thinking, and ability to connect the dots across systems are what will set you apart.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Has 3–5 years of testing experience in an Agile environment. 

Possesses payments domain knowledge (EFT, debit check, RTGS, international and electronic payments). 

Is highly proficient in SQL (essential). 

Has hands-on experience with API testing and exposure to tools like Playwright or BrowserStack. 

Brings an analytical mindset with the ability to validate complex financial data. 

Is adaptable, resilient, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Bonus: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure acceptable), test automation, and an ISTQB certification. 

Education (Minimum)

  • Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Software Testing or Information Technology

Education (Ideal or Preferred)

  • National Diploma in Information Technology

Knowledge and Experience

Minimum:

  • Understand the end-to-end processes being tested to achieve successful testing
  • Knowledge of and exposure to impact analysis when introducing software changes 
  • Understand the full Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Best practice / industry standard in software and hardware testing, reporting, tracking and follow up, and Software Quality Assurance (SQA)
  • 2-3 years’ experience in Quality Assurance (QA) testing within a business context

  • Knowledge of Capitec’s Way of Work (WoW) during projects
  • Experience in continuous delivery environment
  • Application of test tools
  • Test Automation
  • Financial/Banking Systems
  • Reinforce with stakeholders/feature team appropriate testing environments and timelines
