About the role
We are looking for an Work Place Technology Engineer to join our cross-functional DevOps Workplace team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions that support 18,000 users and 26,000 devices across our head office and branch network.
You will work closely with architects, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver modern workplace solutions using Microsoft Intune, SCCM, Active Directory/Entra ID, and cloud platforms like Azure and AWS. This role offers hands-on technical work as well as the opportunity to contribute to architectural planning and innovation.
More About the Role
As a Workplace Engineer , you will play a key role in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining our IT workplace infrastructure. This includes ensuring that our end-user computing environment is resilient, scalable, cost-effective, and high-performing, while aligning to our company’s vision and objectives.
You will work closely with IT architects, vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative, secure, and compliant workplace solutions. From implementing infrastructure changes, maintaining system availability, and optimising deployments, to enabling seamless collaboration tools for employees, you will directly shape how our people experience technology every day.
Our ideal candidate has

A relevant IT qualification (degree or certifications in Microsoft/Azure/AWS).

5+ years’ experience in enterprise end-user computing, covering design, build, and support.
-
Proven experience with Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and Active Directory/Entra ID.

Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) for device management and identity services.

Knowledge of endpoint security, compliance, and automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).

Ability to work in large-scale, multi-site environments with thousands of users/devices.
Key qualities we’re looking for include:

Strong technical expertise in Microsoft 365, Active Directory / Entra ID, Intune, SCCM, endpoint security, cloud (Azure/AWS), and collaboration platforms.

Proven experience in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining enterprise workplace infrastructure.

Solid knowledge of compliance, security frameworks, and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar).

A collaborative approach, with the ability to work across IT and business teams, as well as engage with external vendors and partners.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to balance innovation, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

Self-motivated and detail-oriented, able to take ownership and deliver with urgency under pressure.
Education (Minimum)
- Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
Education (Ideal or Preferred)
- A relevant degree in Information Technology

- End user and distributed IT systems and infrastructure
- Desktop design standards and implementation strategy
- Documenting of IT systems, infrastructure standards and SOP’s
- Microsoft Windows operating system architecture and application integration
- Active Directory and Group Policy management systems (Azure AD, EntraID, AGPM)
- Identity and Access Management (AD Security and Group Management, Multi-Factor Authentication)
- Security relevant to end user devices (Group policy configuration, EDR, Encryption, Remote Wipe)
- Managing compliance levels, across the software stack (O/S, MS Office and 3rd Party applications)
- System Centre Configuration Manager (Advanced use of and Troubleshooting of the system)
- Knowledge in scripting tools such as VBScript, PowerShell, Python, JavaScript
- End User hardware and peripherals (DELL, Lenovo)
- Print Management Solutions (e.g. Y-Soft)
- Cloud Service Providers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
- Microsoft 365 Services (Teams, Power Platform, Power BI, O365).
- Microsoft Intune / MAM (Troubleshooting)
- Cloud Management Gateways (e.g. Azure, SCCM)
- Networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, Routing, Switching)
- Currently relevant industry cloud solution technologies (e.g. Office 365, Azure)
- Video, Voice and Collaboration services (Polycom, Logitech, Yealink, Cisco, Microsoft Teams Rooms)
- SharePoint and SharePoint Online
- Virtual Desktop Technologies (VDI, Citrix, VMWARE)
- Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online and SMTP relay type systems
- SCCM (Architectural design and configuration of the system, creating reports)
- Software packaging, task sequencing, WIM creation, Driver injection etc.
- Observability tooling (e.g. Grafana, Instana, Pager Duty)
